Ah, a free morning! A leisurely breakfast, a light lunch - and off we go again. Today we met our friend and colleague Adrian Bauman, who teaches at the Sydney University. He took us out of the city, across the Harbor Bridge to the north side of the harbor - to walk a trail in the Sydney Harbor National Park. Here you can see Adrian getting us oriented and part of the trail through a neighborhood.

We walked from the Taronga Zoo to Clifton Garden and then to Balmoral Beach - it's a beautiful trail, with great views of the harbor and some wildlife to keep things interesting. Here is a frilly-collared lizard (a bit over 2 feet long) and a fence to keep sharks out of the swimming area.

We had our Australia farewell dinner at a pub called the Hero of Waterloo (http://www.heroofwaterloo.com.au/). It claims to be the oldest continually licensed pub in Australia; plus - it's haunted. It's made of 'convict brick,' sandstone blocks chiseled by convicts, each with a specific pattern to ensure his credit for doing the work.

The first order of business was the awarding of the prize for our best boomerang thrower. As previously noted, Dennis was the competition winner and his reward for this effort was his very own boomerang.

After dinner, we took a tour of the basement of the pub - dark tunnels leading off to the wharf, chains and bars - just a creepy sort of place. There were a couple of old signs left over from the plague days.
