Today started off in the bus again - to drive to the Cairns airport. Along the way, Wayne entertained us with his explanation of Australia's political system. He's eager to see the country elect its own president, but many citizens are still dedicated to the monarchy. He predicts that things won't change until after Queen Elizabeth dies or steps down - folks just don't want to hurt her feelings.

We boarded yet another airplane, this time to fly to Sydney, our last stop in Australia. This is a good time to say a few words about Quantas Airlines - it's world class, not much resemblance to assorted American airlines. We've had meals on most flights, movies on longer flights - and on this flight, they even gave us ice cream! It sure is different!

After we arrived in Sydney, we got checked into hotel and took off walking - what else? Wayne took us on a zigzag route through town to Darling Harbor, an area of massive redevelopment to transform decaying buildings into a big time tourist destination. We checked out the sights, got something to eat and then headed back to the hotel.
